LEAH'S BIO (CURRENTLY ON MAT LEAVE)
Born in the Lower Mainland, Leah brings just about 10 years of experience in the industry to the team. Spending her summers in Penticton throughout her childhood, Leah moved to the Okanagan from Squamish in 2023 and is so excited to have had the opportunity to start a new chapter of her life here. She and her family love exploring the great outdoors, and taking part in the many fun summer events that we’re so lucky to enjoy in Penticton.
Leah is a laid-back, friendly and creative person who enjoys people tremendously, taking special care to develop an empathetic bond with her guests. She values the input and perspectives of others and has found that these different perspectives have helped her personally to both learn and grow. When she's not busy with her daughter, Leah enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, fishing, spending time at the beach, camping, travelling, crafting and snuggling with her cat, Banjo and her dog, Mack.
Leah graduated from the hair design program at Vancouver Community College in 2017 and is certified in EHP tape in extensions, and Kevin Murphy colour. Passionate about education, she has also had additional training in razor haircutting, blonding and colouring.
Leah was drawn to the hair industry by the desire to find a career where she could make people feel great about themselves, while still being creative. She loves the fast-paced salon work environment, and the ever-changing requests from her guests.
When asked about what she loves best about being a stylist and colourist, Leah said “I really feel the tangible difference you can make in how someone feels by making their outward appearance match who they are inside. I love how personalized every single service is and I value the connection I create with my clients, watching them grow through different experiences. I have met some of the most incredible people throughout my career who I would have never crossed paths with otherwise. I’m constantly in awe of just how amazing and interesting people are.”
Leah specializes in a wide variety of colourwork, foiling, cutting and styling. She excels at colour formulation and loves haircutting - most especially getting to perform style changes and creating shape and texture with short haircuts. Leah is also experienced with curly hair, creative colour and corrective colour… which means she’s comfortable tackling those major-surgery hair appointments! In her stylist questionnaire, Leah told us “I’ve learned to be fearless in my career. There are very few things I will not try, as long as my client is comfortable.”
